It was perfect weather for the elk to come out into the fields! Take binoculars and a zoom lense for your camera if you have one (if not, phones work just fine). If you have a chance to stop by, I would highly recommend it! The day we stopped by, it was cloudy and there was a little rain. Trails and viewing areas are for foot traffic only. Please use trash receptacles or take trash with you. ![]() No pets or smoking are permitted in the Center or on trails or viewing areas. Remember to stay on the designated trails and paths at all times for your safety and the safety of the elk. We ask that you observe Visitor Guidelines on trails and elsewhere in the Visitor Center. Visitors can also experience and learn about other native plants and animals, area history, and the surrounding ecosystem. All trails are wheelchair accessible and lead to viewing areas where you can see the elk, but they cannot see you. The Visitor Center features three observation trails with viewing areas and interpretive wayside displays. With that experience in mind, we've designed the Elk Country Visitor Center as a place where visitors have an opportunity to see and experience these majestic animals year round in their natural habitat. Seeing and hearing elk in person is an awe-inspiring experience – the high point of any visit to Pennsylvania Elk Country. ![]()
